In 1957, Simone Berriau, a wealthy patron of the arts and owner of the Antoine Theatre in Paris, acquired a group of land belonging to the French Navy located at the mouth of the Gapeau. She commissioned the architect and artist Pierre Pascalet to carry out his utopian project of a seaside artists' residence. The four-hectare condominium mainly consists of three buildings named after the successes of the Antoine theatre.
