Pendant une dizaine d’années, jusqu’au choc pétrolier de 1973, une nouvelle génération d’architectes va développer des projets utopiques et visionnaires dont les enjeux sont de contrôler et de développer la croissance urbaine. Véritable livre d’art, l’ouvrage richement illustré propose plusieurs projets et réalisations datant des années 1960 et 1970 (certains détruits depuis) photographiés en 2017 par Jérémie Souteyrat et présentés par Benoît Jacquet précédé par une interview réalisée par l’historien de l’architecture Fujimori Terunobu auprès d’un des architectes phares du mouvement métaboliste, le très médiatisé Kurokawa Kishō (1934-2007).

From the end of the 1950s, Japan, which had been largely destroyed during the Second World War, began a cycle of high economic growth. For a decade, until the oil crisis of 1973, a new generation of architects developed utopian and visionary projects whose aim was to control and develop urban growth. A true art book, this richly illustrated work presents several projects and achievements from the 1960s and 1970s (some of which have since been destroyed) photographed in 2017 by Jérémie Souteyrat and presented by Benoît Jacquet. It is preceded by an interview with one of the leading architects of the Metabolist movement, the much-publicised Kurokawa Kishō (1934-2007), conducted by architectural historian Fujimori Terunobu.
