MINIMALIST INTERIORS

The term minimalism has not always been used correctly, especially in the field of architecture. Even today, this confusing word is the subject of contradictions when it comes to defining a current, a school or a creative trend. The term began to be used in the 1960s, when famous artists such as Donald Judd and Robert Morris entered the scene. Minimalist Interiors is a book that offers an exhaustive visual journey through the most beautiful spaces that sum up this aesthetic, the result of an era that fell victim to the excesses of the consumer society. The selected projects are characterised by their minimalist style. But also by the light and its impact on the volumes, by the composition of the buildings and the configuration of the space, the design and the structure, by the textures of the materials that acquire a fundamental importance, to the detriment of any form of decoration or ornament, without any concession to convenience or unnecessary evocations. An architecture, in short, that advocates concrete forms, designed to establish a link with the environment, and whose identity is defined by functionality, purity of line and geometric forms.
